Pre-select Option

The Appalachian State University Combined Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship utilizes an early decision process for current Appalachian State University DPD undergraduates.

The applicant must provide the Dietetic Internship Director with a complete DICAS application by November 22, 2024, 11:59 PM (application forms, including 3 letters of recommendation, letter of application,  DPD Verification Statement or Intent to Complete form).

Early decision applicants will be notified by December 16. Students are expected to respond with their decision by January 31. Possible applicant student decisions include:

1) Acceptance: The applicant accepts early decision and is admitted to the program. The applicant is expected to withdraw all other applications and submit an enrollment agreement;

2) Deferral: The applicant defers acceptance to be considered again during the regular decision process. The applicant will be considered in the regular applicant pool (this is not a guaranteed admission during the regular cycle); OR

3) Denial / Withdraw: The applicant is not admitted to the program and may not reapply in the same cycle.

Early decision is considered a commitment between the applicant and the school. With the exception of a true emergency that prevents you from attending the program, applicants that accept the offer of early decision are committed to attending the program and will withdraw any applications they may have submitted to other programs.  Should an applicant fail to honor an acceptance, it is considered a breach in ACEND Admissions Traffic Rules. If you accept another offer without removing your application from consideration, this constitutes a violation of the ACEND code of conduct. Applicants who are denied Early Decision admission are encouraged and eligible to reapply in the same application cycle. Feedback on denied applications is provided by the program Director. This policy is designed to ensure that the Early Decision process is fair, transparent, and beneficial to both the applicants and the App State MS in Nutrition programs.
